THE-CADLEYSTHE CADLEYS
DUETS AND BALLADS

Catiemae Records
No Number

Songwriter John Cadley and his wife Cathy have released this project of which they call their “favorite songs.” In the studio, The Cadleys are joined by producer Clay Hess (guitar, mandolin, banjo), Irl Hees (bass), John Dancks (bass), Tim Crouch (fiddle), and Randy Kohrs (resonator guitar). The favorites they’ve chosen include Bill Monroe’s “Kentucky Waltz” and “True Life Blues,” the Louvin’ Brothers “I Wish You Knew” and “Seven Year Blues,” Ralph Stanley’s “Little Birdie,” and the Chris Hillman/Gram Parsons classic “Sin City.” The couple also includes a few of their originals, “Mourning Doves,” “Sleepwalkers,” and “Could This Be Love?”

The Cadleys pleasant vocals and harmonies really shine on these songs, while the musicians honor the bluegrass tradition. Cathy’s wonderful voice is featured on “Ticket Back” and her own “Five Days In May,” while John’s lead is featured on “Light Of Day.” The Cadleys have created a nice project of music that many should find enjoyable as they hear these familiar tunes in a new setting.
