STEVE HARRIS

STEVE-HARRISSUNDOWN

Orange Blossom Records
No Number

Steve Harris is the founding member of Circa Blue, and this is his first solo outing. This is an all-gospel project where Steve (a preacher’s son) has produced a selection of his favorites which were chosen for “the personal sentiment they hold for me,” Steve handles the lead vocals and plays guitar and some banjo. He’s joined by Marshall Wilborn (bass), Emory Lester (mandolin), Jon Glik (fiddle), Gaven Largent (resonator guitar), and Chris Sexton (piano). Guest vocalists include Mary Paula Wilson, Ed Wilson, Empee Wilson, Sarah Harris, Malia Furtado, and Sherry Philp.

Listeners may find many of the tunes familiar, including “Little White Church,” “In The Garden,” “I’ll Fly Away,” “Where Could I Go,” “Drifting Too Far From The Shore,” and “Falling Leaves.” Lesser-known selections include “Sundown,” “Come Morning,” “I Am The Lords,” and “Softly And Tenderly.” This is a very good project with nice harmonies and instrumental arrangements throughout. Harris has a pleasant, light voice which fits the soft delivery of the songs. This CD should be a welcome addition to anyone’s gospel collection. (www.orangeblossomrecords.com)BF
