Silvan Session Live

Georgia’s Bibb City Ramblers were formed in 2007 by friends Brian Fowler (mandolin) and Dan Davidson (guitar, harmonica, vocals). In 2010 the duo was joined by Dan’s wife Gini Davidson on bass and vocals. Then in 2020 fiddle player Dan Campbell signed up, rounding out the band to a foursome. Focusing on and influenced by the various styles of roots music (bluegrass, americana, country, etc.), the group began writing songs together which has culminated in the production of this live album recorded at the Silvan Guitars’ venue in Columbus, Georgia as a celebration of the Rambler’s 15 years.

The songs are written either singly by Flower, or Dan Davidson, or together, or, they are a collaboration of Fowler and both Davidsons. Selections include “The Hero,” “Katie McGee,” “The Water’s Edge,” “Paindrops,” “High Horse Man,” “Six Indians,” and “Simulation,” which is a very nice waltz featuring Gini Davidson. The only non-original tune is the old Irish ballad, Irving Websters’ “I’ll Twine Mid The Ringlets.” Vocals are shared or swapped between the Davidsons with Campbell providing harmonies.

Three instrumentals are “Huck Finn,” “Hot Pursuit,” and the last cut “Weathervane.” The band is having fun with this live session with the audience chiming in at times. Good fun from the Bibb City Ramblers.
