The band is based in the Cincinnati, Ohio, area and consists of three brothers and a friend who rounds out the group. They are Titus Luckhaupt (mandolin, guitar, whistle), Benjamin Luckhaupt (guitar, harmonica), Joshua Luckhaupt (fiddle accordion), and Wyatt “Sawmill” Murray (bass).  They have become quite popular in their region and have garnered a few award wins and nominations from such as the Josie Awards, Appalachian Arts and MerleFest.

This new project contains mostly original material from the band and features many of their gospel-related compositions. Guests include Patrick D’Arcy (whistles, pipes, bodhran) and the Wallace Sisters (vocals). All the selections are originals with the exception of Andrew Hubbard’s “That’s My God.” The other selections include “The Imposter,” “The Racer,” “Prayers of My Friends,” “Only Jesus,” and “The Edge Of The River.”

Highlights include the Celtic-flavored instrumental “The Banshees,” two featuring the Wallace Sisters’ harmony—“Salvation Mountain” and “It’s Yours”— and there is “Two Boats” with its beautiful piano introduction. While the band’s sound is based on their bluegrass roots, they are not afraid to stretch out and give these songs their own legs. Goods songs, good harmonies and good playing makes this a good project from this group.
