Fallen Angel

This four-piece group from Western Canada has managed to put themselves squarely on the list of extremely popular Vancouver artists with their modern approach to bluegrass, folk, and Americana music. The band consists of Dylan Stone (guitar, vocals), Jesse Cobb (mandolin, vocals), Quin Etheridge-Pedden (fiddle, vocals), and Mark Johnson (bass, vocals).

The band’s output can be found on local radio and music charts, as well as appearing at many area festivals. With Stone as the main writer, this newest project continues to show that this group can not only perform but also provide great new songs. Selections include “Endless Highway,” “Never Leave You Again,” “Real To Touch,” “Adeline,” “The River,” “More Than Lovers,” “Buried In The Snow,” and “Negativity” (written by Cobb). The two instrumentals are “The Grass Is Always Bluer” and “Big Shots,” and, while not listed on the CD jacket, the project closes with a cover of the Edgar Winter instrumental “Frankenstein.”

This new collection of material from this group really showcases not only the songwriting quality but also the vocal blending and instrumental prowess of the players, especially the melding of the mandolin and fiddle. This is a very nice second effort for this Vancouver quartet.
