Cup O’ Joe is a young family trio from Northern Ireland consisting of Reuben Agnew (guitar), Tabitha Agnew (banjo, guitar), and Benjamin Agnew (bass). They’re assisted on this project by David Benedict (mandolin), Niall Murphy (fiddle), Josh Clark (percussion), Dave Molloy (guitar), Eilidh Patterson (vocals), and Glenn Chambers (percussion). All of the Agnews sing lead and harmony vocals and are quite talented on their respective instruments.

“In The Parting” is the title-track and is a traditional tune, while all of the other selections were composted by the trio. The project features the quite excellent and innovative playing of Tabitha on banjo and brother Reuben on guitar. This is shown throughout and especially on the two instrumentals “Pinley Green” and “Seasons.” Other selections include “The Waiting Game,” “Why,” “Till I Met You,” “Worth It All,” and the jazzy and whimsical “Can’t Sleep Without Caffeine.”

This debut release was recorded in Ireland and mixed in the U.K., with additional mixing in the U.S. The trio has toured extensively throughout the U.K. and Europe, including a couple of trips to the U.S. where they showcased at IBMA’s World of Bluegrass. This young trio has plenty of talent and should have a great future ahead. (www.cupojoemusic.com)BF
