The Flood
The members of Rock Ridge have been entertaining folks around the Oregon/California area for over a decade. Formed by Rick and Josie Grant, the couple was joined by Dale and Suzanne Adkins in 2019. The quartet is known for their hard rhythm, great vocals and forceful instrumentals. With Rick Grant on mandolin, Josie Grant on guitar, Suzanne Adkins on bass, and Dale Adkins on guitar and banjo, the foursome offers a nicely-mixed selection of originals and others to round out this new project.
Two by Suzanne are “The Flood,” and “Forget The Hard Times,” two from Dale are “Climb That Hill,” and “Don’t Let The Stove Go Cold,” and there is from Rick’s “Farmers Lament.” Other tunes include “Lonely River,” “Blue Night,” “Foolish Heart,” “Sleeping Cold,” and “What Will Become Of Me.” All the members contribute to the vocals and harmonies, and they all blend quite well on the song arrangements and playing. This is a very solid collection of good bluegrass music. There only one comment with the packaging. It is a single sleeve with very small font on a somewhat dark background, making the information hard to read.
