“Bye Bye Blues” on the Mandolin – Part 1

In this first of a two-part lesson Austin Scelzo is going to show you how to listen to a recording of the song “Bye Bye Blues” and analyze what you hear to first find the melody’s contour and then identify the bass line, which will help identify the chord changes, all by ear. In part 2, he will show you how to find the melody by ear, based on the information gathered in this video, and how to use scale notes to create your own solo.
