Where You’ve Been

Based in Siler City, North Carolina, Nu-Blu is the brain-child of Daniel and Carolyn Routh, both very talented musicians. They formed Nu-Blu in 2003 and since then have put out a number of award-winning projects. Besides playing the usual round of venues, they have appeared on Fox News and their music has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning and, they are permanent hosts of TV’s Bluegrass Ridge broadcast which can be seen worldwide. For this new project the band consists of Daniel (guitar, vocals), Carolyn (bass, vocals), Justin Harrison (mandolin, percussion), and Austin Hefflefinger (banjo), There is also Austin Dowling (resonator guitar). Other guests include Ron Stewart (fiddle), Jody McBrayer (vocals), Jim Peterik (keyboards, vocals), Sharon White (vocals), and Ricky Skaggs (vocals).

This eleven song collection features compositions from a variety of writers to include Keven Brandt, Jeff Walters, Tim Stafford, and Dennis Morgan. Two originals are Harrison’s “Whirlwind,” and Peterik’s “Trains.” Other selections include the title “Where You’ve Been,” along with “Horse Thieves and Moonshiners” with Ron Stewart, “It’s Too Late,” “When It Rains (She Pours)” and “That’s Just Life.”

There is also “Jesus Loves You” with Jody McBrayer, and Sharon White and Ricky Skaggs join in on “The Will.” Carolyn’s very clear and pleasant vocals are featured throughout, backed or shared by Daniel. The rest of the musicians are highly skilled and give the arrangements a good run. This is another nice new project from Nu-Blu.
