So Much For Forever

East Tennessee’s Authentic Unlimited was formed by three former members of Doyle Lawson’s Quicksilver upon Lawson’s retirement. They are Eli Johnston (banjo), Stephen Burwell (fiddle) and Jerry Cole (bass). Joining the trio are Jesse Brock (mandolin) and John Meader (guitar). Besides working with Lawson’s Quicksilver, members have gained previous experience with such groups as Pine Mountain Railroad (Cole, Johnston), Nothin’ Fancy (Johnston) and IIIrd Tyme Out (Cole). Jesse Brock brings his time spent with such folks as Lynn Morris, Chris Jones, Michael Cleveland, Audie Blaylock’s Redline, The Gibson Brothers and Fast Track.

The members have also garnered a number of awards like “New Artist of the Year,” “Vocal Group of the Year” and “Mandolin Player of the Year.” They also made their Grand Ole Opry debut in November 2023. The band’s focus is to keep with their own sound and their own songs written by the band members. The theme of the songs on this project reflects relationships, good, bad, sad, happy. Selections include “Goodbye,” “Praying For The Night,” “A Drive At Dusk,” “I Can’t Let Go,” “Second To None” and “Fall In Tennessee.” And there is a real nice fiddle intro to the cut “Misty Vale.” This is a very good new effort for this up-and-coming popular group.
