Ogden Heart
Ogden Heart is a family trio consisting of sister/brother Isabel and Evans Humphreys along with their mother, songwriter Kathryn Caine. Due to the lack of any liner notes (other than song titles), a search of the internet was made for their web site (below) where information about them was found. Isabel is the lead singer with harmony from Evans and Kathryn. Evans plays bass and Kathryn plays guitar and piano. They are joined by supporting players Rusty Speidel (guitars), Andy Thacker (mandolin), John Lee (banjo), and James McLaughlin (drums). Caine’s songwriting contributions include “Backwoods Sound”, “Whiskey Song”, and “The Bye and Bye”. Other selections are the folk standard “Sliver Dagger”, Bill Monroe’s “The One I Love Is Gone”, Tom Paxton’s “The Last Thing On My Mind”, Roger Miller’s “The Crossing”, Elton John’s “Border Song”, Mike Nesmith’s “Nine Times Blue”, and the Gospel “Soldier Of The Cross”. The main feature throughout is Isabel’s soulful and clear voice accompanied by the group’s modern approach on the various styles they take from bluegrass, folk and country, even rock.
