Lead and Iron

Chicago-based Henhouse Prowlers call themselves the Bluegrass Ambassadors, for in the past 16 years or so the band has toured over 25 countries in Europe, Africa, and Asia and has even traveled to Siberia. The Henhouse Prowlers are Jon Goldfine (bass, vocals), Chris Dollar (guitar, vocals), Jake Howard (mandolin, vocals) and Ben Wright (banjo, vocals). All the members are songwriters and while their music is founded on bluegrass, they also incorporate the music of the various cultures from around the globe which they have encountered on their many travels. Some of these compositions are included in this all-original project.

Chris Dollar offers “Home For,” “My Last Run,” “Passenger Train Boogie,” “Rolling Wheels” and “The Show.” Jake Howard composed the title cut “Lead and Iron,” along with “My Little Flower” and the instrumental “Wobbly Dog.” Jon Goldfine co-wrote “Subscription To Loneliness” with Rick Lang, and Ben Wright includes his “Forgotten Gravestones.”  The whole band was joined by Stephen Mougin and collectively offered “Died Before Their Time.”

The four members have all the skills, vocals, playing and songwriting, that make this group and this new project a real winner for these Bluegrass Ambassadors.
