Gospel Sessions Vol. 2

This new release from this East Tennessee band is a follow-up project to their 2022 release Gospel Sessions Vol. 1. The band, formed by three former members of Doyle Lawson’s Quicksilver, is Eli Johnston (banjo), Stephen Burwell (fiddle), Jerry Cole (bass), Jesse Brock (mandolin) and John Meader (guitar).

As the band did with their previous dual release with Sessions Vol. 1, this CD is being released at the same time as their more secular endeavor So Much For Forever. This gospel album includes original songs from the band and some familiar sacred tunes. Selections include “Cry From The Cross,” “Memories Of Home,” “Wings Of Love,” “Written Up There,” “To The Cross,” “Help Me Endure,” “Wouldn’t It Be Wonderful” and “You’ve Been A Blessing To Me.” Keeping with their own sound and their approach to the music, and with their commitment to include gospel music as part of their repertoire, Vol. 2 is another nice output from this excellent group of musicians.
