This is an all-Gospel project developed in support of the Outer Banks Dare Challenge organization in North Carolina which is dedicated to proving help to individuals with life problems such as addictions and other controlling issues. Co-produced by Ken Mann and Bill Rea, they gathered together such musicians as Jack Cahoon (bass), Sue Waters (violin, viola), Bill Rea (vocals, fiddle, harmonica), Sammy Mariner (vocals, guitar), Kevin Stroud (banjo), Bob Furr (guitar, vocals), David Johnson (resonator guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, bass), Skip Saunders (vocals, guitar), Roy Murray (flute, piccolo), and Ken Mann (guitar, bass, resonator guitar). Additional vocalists include Eddie Francis, Will Fields, Connie Francis, Roy Riddick, Anna Lee Rea, Connie Bateman, Thomas Baum, and Katelyn Rea Stetson. The selections of spiritually motivated tunes with songs of the sea include “Master of the Sea”, “Man Walking On The Water”, “Master of the Wind”, “Better Boat”, “Cast Your Net”, “Till the Storm Passes By”, “The Lighthouse”, “Sailing Toward Home”, “There’s an Anchor in the Boat”, “Beyond the Sunset”, and “Love Is Free”. This is a very good production keeping close to the bluegrass sound and giving the various musicians and singers lots of opportunity to express their skills. As mentioned in the notes, all proceeds from this collection will go toward the Dare Challenge organization to benefit their ongoing efforts.
