Encore
San Diego-based MohaviSoul offers this seventh project which features not only some original tunes but also includes a few covers that they have regularly performed live. While their music shows their Eastern roots of folk, country, and bluegrass, they also display the influence gained from their time spent in the more contemporary California roots music environment.
The band consists of Randy Hanson (mandolin), Mark Miller (guitar), Daniel Sankey (fiddle), Jason Weiss (banjo), Ben Bostick (bass), and Martha Cather (accordion). Songs from Miller include “Shine Like Stars,” “Broken Hearted Waltz,” “The Other Side,” and “Seeing Signs.”
Hanson offers “Right Side of Bluegrass,” “Ghost Train,” and “High Water.” Then there are the covers of Tyler Childers’ “White House Road,” Jesse Fuller’s “Ninety Nine Years,” and from the pen of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, “No Expectations.”
This new project reaffirms their reputation for good songs, great singing, and good arrangements of their picking and song approaches, and continues to cement their place in this music.
