Eddie Sanders is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist from McAlester, Okla. His first solo album, Fast Train To Lonesome, is a collection of twelve originals. Eddie’s songwriting credentials were acknowledged when his song “You Could Have Been Me” was recorded by Del McCoury. He’s also collaborated on songwriting sessions with bluegrass stalwarts Shawn Camp, Ronnie Bowman, Dennis and Tim Crouch, and Glen Duncan.
The songs here cover most of the tried and true bluegrass topics and themes: trains, lost and/or unrequited love, moonshine, longing for home, and homage to bluegrass heroes. Vocals are ably rendered by Sanders with effective harmonies by Larry Stephenson, Andrea Zonn, Don McAfee, Glen Duncan, and Ronnie McCoury. Instrumentation is top-notch, featuring Dennis Crouch (bass), Ronnie McCoury (mandolin), Ned Luberecki and Don McAfee (banjo), Tim Crouch/Andrea Zonn/Glen Duncan (fiddle), and Cody Kilby (guitar). Recording quality and song arrangements are excellent. This album is straight-ahead bluegrass with a contemporary Nashville-style smoothness. (www.engelhardtmusicgroup.com)TK
