Color Me Blue

Since forming in 2015, West Virginia’s Crandall Creek has become one of bluegrass music’s well-known and popular groups, having been nominated for and winning a number of awards, and having their songs placed high on the music charts.

Founded by guitarist and songwriter Jerry Andrews, he is joined on this new release by original members Carly Greer on lead vocals and Dustin Terpenning on banjo. Assisting in the studio are songwriter Kathy Wigman Lesnock (vocals), Andy Leftwich (fiddle, guitar, mandolin), Jamie Peck (bass), Darrin Vincent (bass), Nathan Peck (bass), and Roger Hoard (guitar).

Founder Andrews wrote or co-wrote the majority of the selections on this project, which includes the title “Color Me Blue,” along with “Mountain Ways,” “Falling In Love Forever,” “Less Or More,” “I Don’t Drink Whiskey,” “Promise Me The Moon,” “Don’t Come Knockin,” and “Lazy Sunday” (with guest Greg Blake on vocals). Other songs include Greer’s “The Penitentiary” and “West Virginia Moonlight.”

The song arrangements stay close to a traditional bluegrass sound with a bit of a modern touch. The powerful and impressive lead vocals from Greer are showcased throughout, with some backing vocals from Lesnock. All the instrumentation and lead breaks are tight, and along with the vocals, give this new project a nice look at the ongoing career of this band.
