Etheridge is a Georgia native who relocated to Nashville, where she soon found herself working with Steve Wariner and the late Harley Allen and opened for such acts as Little Big Town. This CD is her first solo project and includes co-producers Randy Kohrs (resonator guitar), Aaron Till (fiddle, mandolin), and Richard Smith (guitar). Other contributing artists include Cody Kilby (guitar), Tim Crouch (viola, mandolin), Charlie Chadwick (bass), Shad Cobb (banjo), and Buddy Greene (harmonica).
For this project, Etheridge has selected a number of familiar tunes delivered in easy and pleasant vocals. Selections include “Wayfaring Stranger,” a jazzy “Blue Moon Of Kentucky,” a refreshing take on the classic “Filipino Baby,” and a haunting version of “Amazing Grace.” “In The Pines” becomes a piano based jazz tune with Chris Phillips on the keyboards and she gives real heartbreak to the “Tennessee Waltz.” Gospel tunes include “Land Of Beulah,” “Keep Your Eyes On Jesus,” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” The CD closes with “Take My Hand, Precious Lord” with Etheridge accompanied by Phillips on piano. On this project, she is backed by a number of great musicians, and the arrangements put her voice ahead of everything. Etheridge’s strong vocals and harmonies are sure to help her become one of the new voices in bluegrass music. (www.charlseyetheridge.com)BF
