Very Jerry Records — VJR-005

Since 1982, Jerry Salley has become one of the most accomplished and sought-after songwriters in country, bluegrass, and gospel circles. His songs have been recorded by many, many artists from such as Travis Tritt, Reba McIntire, and Brad Paisley to Chris Stapleton, Rhonda Vincent, Doyle Lawson, Patty Loveless, The Talleys, and more. He has also been frequently listed among the nominees and winners for many awards such as Dove, Grammy, and Songwriter accolades.  This new release is Salley’s sixth and again features twelve of his originals, all co-written with others such as Brandon Rickman, Jimmy Richey, Larry Cordle, Tony Wood, and Donna Ulisse.

In the studio Salley is joined by a host of musicians to include Jason Roller (guitar, fiddle), Justin Moses (mandolin, resonator guitar), Mike Bub (bass), Greg “Papaw” Davis (banjo), Aaron McDavis (banjo), Rhonda Vincent (vocals), and a group of background vocalists like Carl Jackson, Larry Cordle, Maggie Salley Williams, Val Story, Donna Ulisse, Brandon Rickman, and Chris Latham. The selections cover the usual themes of love, lost love, heartbreak, drinking, kindness, and just living. These include “Waltz Through The Ages” with Rhonda Vincent, “You Can’t Hear A Heartbreak,” “A Memory Like Mine,” “Dyin’ To Hold Her,” “Without Forgiveness,” and a couple of life songs, “How I Want To Be Remembered,” and “Life To My Days.”

This new collection from Salley contains a lot of fodder for other artists to cover and is sure to get him more kudos from the industry.
