Beyond What I Can See
Remedy Tree is a Florida group founded in 2015 by Gabriel and Abigail Acevedo. Gabriel plays guitar, fiddle, and sings lead vocals, while Abigail plays bass and also sings lead vocals. After a while playing as a duo, they decided to add banjo and mandolin and move to a more bluegrass and Americana sound. They are joined on this project by Nathan Beaumont (banjo, vocals) and Bryce Griffin (mandolin, vocals). The set also includes guests Jason Carter (fiddle) and Victor Furtado (clawhammer banjo).
Gabriel is the primary songwriter of the group and combines his love of bluegrass, old-timey, and folk in his songs. He sings the lead on most of the selections, which include “Adaline,” “Every Second We’re Apart,” “Cedar Mountain,” “Let Her Know,” and the title cut “Beyond What I Can See.” Abigail is featured on lead vocal on “Winter and Spring,” “Troubadour,” and “My Dear Creation.” Gabriel also included the old Ernest Stoneman classic “Say Darlin’ Say” with Furtado on fiddle. Jason Carter adds fiddle on most cuts, and Beaumont’s banjo and Griffin’s mandolin are strong throughout. This is some solid original bluegrass, well written, well arranged, and well played by Remedy Tree.
