TODD TAYLOR
INDESCRIBABLE

Pirate Records
No Number

Touring with his sibling as the Taylor Twins in the 1970s, Todd Taylor made the rounds on the bluegrass music circle, performing with Bill Monroe, Jim & Jesse, and Carl Story, to name a few. As a solo banjo man, he has been nominated 24 times for a Grammy including two years in a row for his Blazin’ Bluegrass Banjo and Todd Taylor: Taylor Made Bluegrass. He became the first person in history to establish and set the Guinness World Record for fastest banjo player. With that kind of history, you expect his music to be well, uh, Indescribable.

That’s the name of his latest project that certainly stretches beyond the bluegrass boundaries. “Todd shows us just how a banjo can venture in to other than the expected musical territory and create a bridge between two styles of music that brings them together,” Nitty Gritty Dirt Band co-founder John McEuen said. The 11-track disc features Taylor’s remake of classic rock songs, “Freebird” (Lynyrd Skynyrd) and “Stairway To Heaven” (Led Zeppelin). He tackles a variety of other genres including classical (“Bach Cello, Suite No. 1 In G Major” and “Beethoven’s Nightmare”), blues (“Banjo Blues”), and western music (“Six Guns”).
