Wayne Henderson is a well-known musician and guitar builder from Southwest Virginia. He has played for audiences around the world and has built and/or worked on guitars for such stars as Eric Clapton, Elvis Presley, and Neil Young. In 1995, after a stint at the Galax Fiddlers’ Convention, Wayne and brother Max got together in Wayne’s home and sat down to record this wonderful collection of instrumentals performed simply on mandolin (Max) and guitar (Wayne). This was to be the only time the two had an opportunity to record together.

The project lay dormant for many years until the Music Makers Relief Foundation supported an effort to get it re-mastered and released this past September 2013. The project includes many familiar tunes such as “Rocky Road Blues,” “Chicken Reel,” “Tennessee Waltz,” “Willow Garden,” “Black Mountain Rag,” “Banks Of The Ohio,” “Will The Circle Be Unbroken,” and Wayfaring Stranger.” This album showcases the clean instrumental skills of both musicians and should be a welcome addition to the music collector who appreciates the simple style of traditional mountain music.
