AT CHRISTMAS TIME

The hammered dulcimer was developed in the Middle Ages and over time came to be used extensively throughout Europe and the Middle East. The instrument was subsequently brought to America by immigrants and became popular within the folk, Celtic, and old-time music circles.
At Christmas Time is wonderful new project of Christmas standards performed by Dulcimer Dance—the duo of Nancy Cardwell-Webster on hammered dulcimer and her daughter Erin Faith Erdos on flute and piccolo. Nancy’s skill with the instrument is quite evident, and Erin’s counterpoints and harmonies make these tunes exceptionally pleasing. Many of the selections are familiar tunes of the Christmas season, including “Silent Night,” “Jingle Bells,” “Joy To The World,” “Away In A Manger,” and “Silver Bells.” Lesser-known tunes include “Coventry Carol,” “Be Thou My Vision,” “Ten Penny Bit,” “The Holly And The Ivy,” and “Still, Still, Still.”
This project would be an excellent addition to one’s Christmas catalog. The music should provide a delightful background for the family gathering. (www.dulcimerdance.com)BF
