This is a fun band that sets out to entertain. They draw music from pop sources, classic country, and also produce originals. Patrick Cupples wrote five of the numbers here and plays bass and drums. Kevin Wright wrote one song and plays guitar. Steve Moore plays banjo, Becky Weaver is on fiddle, and Kevin Keen plays mandolin. Everyone sings but Keen.
Their vocals are solid, as is the picking. Each player demonstrates a sold proficiency and the vocals all hit their mark. There is quite a bit of reverb on the mix, a bit too much in some places. The programming of this project demonstrates something of what they must sound like in concert. It’s well-paced and has a bouncy delivery that’s short on pathos, but hey, they’re here to entertain.
This is an entertaining band that knows how to present a wide range of material. They open up with Jim Croce’s “I’ll Have To Say I Love You In A Song,” bounce through Buck Owen’s “Foolin’ Around,” and visit the old gem “It Must Be Love.” In between, we find some strong original material. This is an entertaining window into the 2019’s Tennessee Music Awards Entertainer Of The Year. (www.notimeflatt.com)RCB
