Variations on a Common Flatpicking Phrase

In this video I demonstrate how to create endless variations of a common fiddle inspired flatpicking phrase.

1) Add quarter note “stops” to the eighth note phrase

2) Add and target flavor notes like the b3, b5, b7, and even the 6th

3) Break the phrase down to smaller phrases

4) Begin the phrase on the 3rd and the 5th

5) Learn all these variations in other chords like G, D, and A…
