Blue Ridge Mountain Waterfalls

Joseph Houck is a singer-songwriter based in Boone, North Carolina, where he grew up under the sights and influences of Western North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. The mountain area’s traditions and lifestyles can be heard in Houck’s songs, as he honed his skills as a writer and guitarist while traveling and performing around the area. He has self-released four previous projects to some critical acclaim, and this new effort will be his fifth.

This is a five-song EP of his original compositions and features Houck performing on vocals and guitar, with some overdubs on harmonies, guitar, mandolin, and keyboards. These original songs continue to express Houck’s feelings and the traditions of his upbringing in the area of the Blue Ridge Mountains, hence the project’s title.

The selections include “Soldier’s Homecoming,” “To Hear Them Play,” “Wing-Clipped Dove,” “Sweet Mountain Air,” and the title “Blue Ridge Mountain Waterfalls.” These are all ballads and are nicely done by Houck and express not only his writing skills but also feature his creative touches on his presentation and arrangements of the five recordings. Look for more to come from Joseph Houck.
