Thea Is A Light Blue

Guitarist Martin Gilmore hails from Denver, Colorado, and has become known for his sensitive playing and singing, as well as being a good songwriter. He is also an accomplished music educator. He is on the faculty of the University of Northern Colorado, where he holds classes in guitar, singing, and song composition. Additionally, he teaches songwriting, bluegrass, and country music at the University of Denver.

Gilmore has traveled the US, Ireland, and even spent time in Egypt. He has opened for such artists as Stephen Stills, Judy Collins, and The Infamous Stringdusters. He has also won songwriting competitions at Telluride, Kerryville, and Rocky Mountain festivals.

This is a new solo project which features Gilmore singing and playing guitar while showcasing his mostly original tunes, which includes “Just A Put On,” “Cincinnati’s Going Home”, “Orphan Train”, “Towboat Blues”, “Old King John,” “I’ve Been Riding Fences,” and the title “Thea Is A Light Blue.” He also performs a couple of traditional songs, “Ain’t It A Shame,” and “Babylon’s Falling,” and he covers Hank Williams Jr.’s “Lonesome Whistle.” Gilmore’s vocals and guitar fit nicely together in this pleasant solo presentation.
