Coming On Strong

In 2015, Seth Mulder and some friends began playing at the local Ole Smokey Moonshine Distillery in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The group based their music on traditional bluegrass with a more modern approach, and by 2018, Seth and Midnight Run band became official. Since then, the band has gained in popularity, and they have been busy touring and performing across the US, Canada, and Europe. 

In 2024, the group was picked up by Rebel Records, and now have this new release. The current group consists of Seth Mulder (mandolin, vocals), Colton Powers (banjo, vocals), Chevy Watson (guitar, bass, vocals), Tyler Griffith (bass, vocals), and Max Silverstein (fiddle). The project features the band’s continued mixing of their splendid blend of bluegrass, country, folk, and even some rock. 

The selections are mostly of covers from a variety of sources and include a few originals from Mulder, “Looking Past The Pain,” Powers, “Church Hill Special,” and Griffith, “Mountain Bill.” Other tunes include “Heartbreak Express,” “Gilgarry’s Glen,” “Bells of Every Chapel,” “Rider On An Orphan Train,” “Rock Of Ages,” “Old Rueben No. 1,” and the title “Coming On Strong.” Overall, this new project showcases the group’s great lead vocals and harmonies backed by some really excellent arrangements and instrumentation.
