New IBMA Awards Exhibit
Earlier this summer, the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum in Owensboro, Kentucky launched a new exhibition honoring the current International Bluegrass Music Association award winners. The organizations already collaborate with the museum’s exhibition of the Hall of Fame inductees, chosen by IBMA. In 2022, former IBMA chairman Mike Simpson pitched the idea to the museum to honor each year’s award winners so they can be highlighted beyond the awards show held in Raleigh, North Carolina. “When Mike contacted us with this idea, we thought it would be a great addition to the exhibit space outside of the Hall of Fame area. These artists and industry professionals deserve recognition, and we’re thrilled to be able to highlight their work in this dynamic, multimedia exhibit,” commented museum executive director Chris Joslin.

The exhibit incorporates three screens that display the Music Award winners, Distinguished Achievement recipients, and Momentum Award winners. The screens provide flexibility so they can be updated annually. In addition to the rotating screens of images and performance videos, the exhibit includes a large-scale replica of an IBMA award. The exhibit currently features winners from 2022, and the 2023 award recipients will be featured once the winners are announced at the upcoming ceremony in September.
